Aprons and Pearls. If you’re wondering where the name came from, it’s my tribute to nostalgia and a simpler time. I just love the glamour and elegance of the forties and fifties. My love of aprons goes back to the fond memories I have of my grandmother in the kitchen wearing her apron. Her aprons served so many purposes. She would pull treats for us from the pockets, or fill them with mulberries as she picked them. Those aprons wiped our faces and smelled like her cooking when she hugged us close. She wore her apron from dawn til dusk, taking it off when she changed into her night clothes. They felt like comfort, warmth and love.
Opening my own shop has always been a dream of mine and now I get to pursue something I am passionate about.
I love hunting for pretty vintage items that have been previously loved. It’s so much fun to transform old furnishings to their original beauty or give them an entirely different look or purpose. It’s fun to find new uses for things from the past. I like to mix the old with the new at home and in the shop. Each old piece has a story to tell and it’s a way to preserve the past. It's so rewarding when customers are happy to find something they have been looking for.
I guess my style is a combination of modern farmhouse/cottage with a hint of shabby. I love the freshness of white and particularly love the timeless appeal of classic black and white. I also love the romance of soft pastel shades which accounts for my shabby streak.
Having the shop has been such a creative outlet for me. I have been so inspired by many of the vendors there.
One visit to the Shops and you will see what is so special about it. The spirit and enthusiasm is palpable!
Well that is the story of Aprons and Pearls. It is a work in progress, but it’s my little happy place❤️ I hope you love it as much as I do.
The Shops On West Ridge houses over 200 vendors in one building. There are two floors of shops offering antiques, gifts, collectibles and so many unique items. The Shops is a fun place to shop, offering many events monthly to our wonderful customers. It is constantly changing with new items offered weekly. Come in soon and see why this unique shopping experience is the happy place to so many! The Shops will soon be celebrating their 30th anniversary!
